This annual and perennial cutting garden on Chapoquoit Island was redesigned and expanded. We removed the old stockade fence and replaced it with a natural border of privet. Although all of the existing plant material was removed, many of the prize specimens were preserved for replanting. We installed a bluestone walkway for access to the cutting garden and a rabbit proof fence to protect the plantings. Some shrubs, including hydrangeas, butterfly bushes and spiraea were added to create a structural border. Roses and mixed annuals were planted around the walkway for cut flower bouquets.
